Interested in teaching in the new School Year Program?

The staff of Breakthrough Cincinnati is a set of diverse students who are driven and dedicated. Breakthrough faculty members are high school students from Cincinnati, and college students from Ohio and across the country. During the school year, high school and local college students volunteer to tutor middle school students after school. As summer staff members, they teach one of four core academic subjects consisting of, math, science, writing through literature, and history. In these classes, staff members are not only required to teach, but also to develop their own curricula, create their own lesson plans, and meet with students' parents.

In addition to core academic classes, staff members design creative, challenging and interactive elective classes ranging from Indian culture to Cincinnati baseball history to web design . Outside of the classroom, staff members are mentors, and get to know the students individually through, sports, electives, and special events. Although staff members are expected work hard, they are greatly appreciated, and receive tremendous support from mentor teachers and administrators. Social staff outings are also organized, which add to the unique, creative, and positive atmosphere.

Because of its great success and its worthwhile impact; Breakthrough has been ranked one of the top ten best internships in the nation by the Princeton Review for the last several years. If you are interested in taking part in this rewarding internship contact us or visit the national website at www.breakthroughcollaborative.org
