Our Mission:
A four year, year round academic enrichment program, our mission is: 1)
To increase the educational and social opportunities for
motivated, underserved middle school youth through high quality summer and
school year programming, and 2)
To inspire, motivate and train talented
high school and college students to enter careers in education.
Our Vision:
Breakthrough will be
a community leader in educational programming for the underserved students of
the greater Cincinnati
area. Students will receive seven years
of high quality summer, school year, and high school programming and be
counseled to enter college preparatory high schools and colleges. Students will use the tools and skills
learned to be successful leaders in Breakthrough and in their communities. Teachers will be providing the highest
quality instruction and will be prepared to enter careers in education. Breakthrough will be a sustainable program
with the staffing, financial resources, and strategic partnerships to provide
services for the community of students from Cincinnati and beyond.
Our Scope:
Breakthrough
Cincinnati is a
proud member of The Breakthrough Collaborative, a proven national educational
enrichment program that prepares more than 2,500 high-potential, low-income
middle school students to succeed in rigorous college preparatory programs
annually and promotes careers in education. Founded in 1978, Breakthrough sites
in 28 cities across America
and in Hong Kong have touched the lives of
thousands of youth through the “students teaching students model.”
